CRYOGENIC R-700X SQUID MAGNETOMETER
GENERAL INFORMATION | STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE
The Cryogenic R-700X SQUID magnetometer is used for DC and AC measurements of magnetic susceptibility. The sample temperature is controlled between 1.8 and 300 K. DC measurements can be obtained at fields between 100 uT and 7 T; AC measurements are performed between 0.01 and 500 Hz using an AC field up to 5 Gauss (500 uT). A high-precision low field current source can provide fields up to 50 mT with a precision of 1 uT. The SQUID is a recondensing model with zero boil-off under normal conditions.
Typically measured samples are approximately 10 mg of powder; air-sensitive samples can be prepared inside a glovebox. The instrument is shielded from external magnetic and RF fields, but cell phone use near the instrument is not permitted.
