SCI Error Instrument Reset Procedure
Different from issue with the doors not closing properly, sometimes an SCI Error is shown. This can occur when first connecting to the instrument, or even between scans. In this case, the diffractometer must be restarted.
Close the Data Collector Software.
Turn the HV key off and make sure the doors are closed.
Press Power OFF on the front panel of the diffractometer (beneath the door). Wait one minute.
Press Power ON.
Wait until “0,0” appears on the x-ray parameters (under the HV key). This may take a few minutes.
The diffractometer will then initialize the goniometer and end up at 5 degrees.
Turn the HV Key to the ON position. It will automatically go to 30 kV and 10 mA.
Open data collector and connect as usual. Then bring the x-rays to the desired condition.
45 kV and 40 mA (or 10 mA if going to standby mode).
If a user cannot get the x-rays to restart, contact staff via Badger.
