Restart procedure for PXRD (i.e. x-ray power shows “0 kV, 0 mA”)

If the doors are not properly closed, either too gently or too harshly, the microswitches in the door safety system can have trouble making contact and this will shut off the x-rays (as a safety feature). If this occurs while using, please try the following procedure:

  1. Symptom: X-rays go to zero

  2. Turn the HV key off

  3. Cycle the doors (open/close)

  4. Turn the key to on

  5. The light bar near the key and the top light should light up in a few seconds. If it does not, turn the key off and repeat from the door cycling step

  6. When the lights go on, the x-rays will automatically go to 30 kV, 10 mA.

  7. After connecting, the x-rays can be set to 45 kV and 40 mA (or 10 mA if going to standby mode).

  8. If a user cannot get the x-rays to restart, contact staff via Badger.
