All clean room equipment requiring a Badger reservation requires equipment-specific training and qualification. Prior to requesting training, one should already have access to the clean room, a UNI and Badger account. From the onset of the equipment training, time will be billed back to the trainee's Badger Account.
Badger account instructions and information can be found here.
Equipment-specific training begins under the tutelage of another already-qualified equipment user (who also has current access to the clean room), typically from the same research group. Both those seeking training and the instructing user MUST have current clean room access. New clean room users need to follow the clean room access protocol.
If there are no qualified users in the requester's group, the requester of training should contact the Equipment Superuser or staff for training. For some tools there are scheduled training sessions by Superusers for groups. Information can be found on the individual tool pages. The equipment superuser list can be found here.
Once the trainee feels as though they have had adequate training for proficient tool use, the trainee should contact the equipment superuser to arrange for a qualification exam. Be sure to be prepared, as failure will result in a two week probationary period until the qualification exam can be re-taken with the same superuser. Should you fail the qualification exam do not circumvent the superuser that has failed you. This will result in suspensions from the lab.
Once successfully qualified, the superuser or cleanroom staff will grant 'User' level access to the requester on the specific equipment, allowing Badger reservations and control.
